How is typing speed calculated?
A “word” is counted as 5 keystrokes (including spaces). Gross WPM = (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Net WPM = Gross WPM − (wrong words ÷ minutes). Accuracy = correct words ÷ words typed. KDPH (key depressions per hour) is what SSC uses: 35 WPM ≈ 10,500 KDPH. Full details: WPM & KDPH formula guide.
